Jutta Ferretti is Delta State’s oldest graduate, has a room named after her, and awards a deserving student a fellowship each year.
Jutta Ferretti is the epitome of a Statesmen.
The Shelby native received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree in 2010, deeming her Delta State’s oldest graduate at the age of 86. In honor and recognition of Ferretti and her late husband John Ferretti’s generosity to the University, the Special Collections Room of Delta State’s Roberts LaForge Library was named the Jutta Karnstedt Ferretti Special Collections Room in 2011.
In 2012, the John S. and Jutta Karnstedt Ferretti Fellowship was announced as an honor for an outstanding student in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MA-LS) program. The fellowship was made possible through a gift from Jutta in honor of her husband.
Her passion and love for learning is still being expressed on campus. She attended the presentation of her fellowship to this year’s recipient on Thursday, where she chatted with President LaForge and friends on campus.
