Delta State President William N. LaForge explored learning opportunities for students while touring Needle Specialty Products (NSP) in Boyle. The visit was led by Delta State alumni Michael Belenchia who is principal owner, president, and chief executive officer of NSP.
Belencia explained NSP’s process of manufacturing and packaging. He commented on the importance of employees with backgrounds in biology, chemistry, math, and business.
Delta State President William N. LaForge attended the Cleveland-Bolivar County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting last week to discuss upcoming events. As president of Delta State, LaForge is granted an ex-officio seat on the Board.
The group discussed the arrival of Teach For America Delta Institute guests and the community celebration scheduled for July 3. President LaForge and the Board also anticipate activities for the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi.
Delta State President tours ASICS with alumna Joyce McCown.
Delta State alumna, Joyce McCown, recently hosted a tour of the ASICS America Distribution Center for Delta State President William N. LaForge and Executive Director of Alumni-Foundation Keith Fulcher.
McCown graduated from Delta State with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is now the operations manager at ASICS. She oversees the daily operations of shipping, receiving, special projects, and added services at the over 500,000 square foot distribution center located on 38 acres north of her alma mater in Byhalia. The center opened in April 2010 and is focused is on shipping footwear across the nation to meet rising consumer demands.
