The Delta State Alumni Association has been busy visiting alumni and friends of the university this summer. In June, they participated in Atlanta’s Mississippi in the Park as well as the Mississippi on the Mall event in Washington, D.C. The Atlanta event was hosted by the Mississippi Society of Georgia and featured live music and a catfish lunch. The D.C. event was hosted by Mississippi Society of D.C. and was held at the Henry Bacon ballfield near the Lincoln Memorial.
The Alumni Association is in the process of planning and hosting alumni chapter meetings across the state. The Greater Jackson Alumni Chapter meeting took place July 13; the Leflore County/Greenwood chapter will meet on August 1 at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, and the DeSoto County chapter will meet August 12.
In other news on campus, we will host the United for Children Education Summit this week on campus. The one-day workshop is designed for teachers, food service workers and parents. It is part of a partnership between our Continuing Education office and Sunflower County United for Children organization.
