Update on President LaForge

Happy Friday!

I am pleased to report that President LaForge was discharged from the hospital late yesterday, and he sends his thanks to everyone for all of the well wishes and prayers.

The doctors did a full battery of tests to see if there were any cognitive and/or motor skill issues, and the President passed all of them with flying colors.  As a result, he and his family have returned to their vacation home and will stay there a couple of days before driving to their home in Virginia.  They made the decision to go to Virginia for his recovery period because of the shorter distance to travel as well as the fact that their adult children are based in Virginia.  The doctors have asked President LaForge to plan on a two-week recovery period, and his family is going to try and hold him to it.

To aid in a speedy recovery, the family is asking for everyone’s assistance in helping the President get the rest he needs.  If you would like to send a “get well” note or message to President LaForge, please e-mail it to president@deltastate.edu or mail it to Box A-1, Campus.  Any business related items should be directed to the appropriate Vice President.  If you are unsure of where to direct your question or issue, please contact me, and I will gladly assist.  The other Vice Presidents and I will be in regular contact with President LaForge during his time away from the office, and we will make sure the operations of the university continue to run smoothly.

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and prayers as President LaForge completes the recovery process and makes his way back to Delta State.
