Joining President LaForge is Josh West, CEO of Blue Delta Jean Company and a distinguished alumnus of Delta State, who delivered the keynote address at our spring commencement earlier this month.
Josh received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Delta State in 2005 and then a master’s degree in public policy from Mississippi State the following year. While at Delta State, Josh played drums for the musical ensemble, Renaissance, was elected president of the Student Government Association, was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national scholastic honor society, and was inducted into the Student Hall of Fame. He went on to complete postgraduate training at King’s College London and the University of Oklahoma. In 2011, he co-founded Blue Delta, a premium bespoke jean company, which specializes in custom jeans that are sold throughout the U.S. as well as internationally.
In other news on campus, summer session I begins next week, but there’s still time to register for courses if you wish to get ahead in your degree or simply wish to take an elective. We offer a multitude of classes, ranging from the general education requirements to electives to upper level courses. Summer school allows you to devote more time to a course or two without the pressure of a full class load. Registration for summer I closes next Wednesday, May 29.
