Joining President LaForge is Elizabeth Joel, Delta State’s Coordinator of Continuing Education.
Each summer, the Delta State campus is filled with young students of all ages attending our many summer camps. From athletic camps to camps focusing on music and the arts, there is something for everyone.
Each year, the Bologna Performing Arts Center hosts the Janice Wyatt Mississippi Summer Arts Institute, a camp focusing on dance, literary arts, music, theatre, and visual arts. The Department of Athletics offers camps in a variety of sports including football, basketball, and swimming. And, our Office of Continuing Education offers additional camps including Kid’s College and Lego Camp. Kid’s College gives kindergarten through sixth grade students a taste of the college experience. This year, children were offered classes in Art, Cooking, Nursing and First Aid, Physics, Science and Reading. Lego Camp is an annual offering in which students use unique Lego kits to build a variety of projects and learn engineering principles.
In other news on campus, registration for the second term of summer school classes is still open, and there are an array of courses available. For more information, visit deltastate.edu/summerschool. Tomorrow, the Bologna Performing Arts Center will continue its Summer Movie Series with a showing of “Smurfs: The Lost Village.” Show time is 7 p.m., and tickets are $5.
