Orientation sessions begin this week

Joining President LaForge is Jeanna Wilkes, director of the Office of Student Life and organizer of Orientation programs.

This week marks the beginning of Orientation sessions on campus as the university welcomes new students to Delta State. The university offers an extensive orientation program each summer for new students enrolling for the fall semester, and there are sessions for both incoming freshmen as well as transfer students. The programs feature informational sessions on housing, academics, student life, and many other topics.

Delta State also offers a number of sessions for parents of first-time students. Parents are encouraged to attend the same session as their student, and the sessions include information on meal plans, housing options for students, and entertainment activities that provide an opportunity for new students to meet current Delta State students as well as spend time with other new students.

In other news on campus, this week marks the beginning of the first term of summer school, and it’s not too late to sign up. Registration ends tomorrow. For more information visit deltastate.edu/summerschool. And next Monday, June 6, the Bologna Performing Arts Center will begin its summer movie series with two screenings of Beauty and the Beast. The showtimes are set for 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., and tickets are $5.
