Joining President LaForge is the Honorable Ann Lamar, a 1974 graduate of Delta State and the most recent appointee to the Board of Trustees for the State Institutions of Higher Learning.
Delta State was honored to have the Honorable Ann Lamar as the speaker for Spring Commencement ceremonies.
Justice Lamar was appointed to the Mississippi Supreme Court in May 2007 by Governor Haley Barbour, and in 2008, she was elected to serve an eight-year term. She was the third female to serve on the state Supreme Court, and she is a member and past president of the William C. Keady American Inns of Court. In 2011, she was inducted as a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation. She retired from the Mississippi Supreme Court in 2016.
She is married to Delta State alumnus, John Lamar, and she and her family have been great ambassadors for Delta State.
