Joining President LaForge is Registrar Becky Finley to discuss the new Military Services Office at Delta State University.
In November, Delta State University earned the 2017 Military Friendly School designation by Victory Media — a cutting edge, civilian-produced resource for the 400,000 people who leave military service each year — and an outlet that creates a more efficient way for schools and employers to reach this group of talented veterans. This designation is an example of the commitment Delta State has to veterans at our university and in the Delta as a whole.
Delta State’s Registrar’s Office recently announced the addition of two new Military Service Office representatives who will be available to provide support to veterans, their families, and specifically veteran students seeking information and assistance.
Staffing the office will be Sergeant Larry Harris and Delta State graduate Sarah Shepherd. Sergeant Harris is a state employee hired by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Delta State has partnered with the VA to provide him office space in the Registrar’s Office. Additionally, Ms. Shepherd will serve in Delta State’s new part-time VA certified position.
If you have any questions about the Military Services Office, please contact Sgt. Harris or Sarah Shepherd at 662-846-4040. In other news on campus, classes resumed today, and we welcome all of our students back for an exciting spring semester. And, go ahead and mark your calendars for our annual Winning the Race conference, which is scheduled for March 27 and 28. The committee overseeing the conference has some great things planned this year.
