Joining President LaForge is Dr. Adam Johanson, assistant professor of physics at Delta State.

It’s another exciting week at Delta State as we announce the re-opening of the Roy L. and Clara Belle Wiley Planetarium in the Caylor-White/Walters complex. This comes after extensive renovations and updates to the Planetarium’s technology and facility, which originally opened in 1976.

The facility is the only one of its kind at a Mississippi public university, and it will open to the public on Wednesday, October 12 with a showing at 4 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. showing on Friday, October 14. Then, there will be a special 1 p.m. showing on Saturday in association with the Delta State Homecoming game. Admission tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door with checks or cash.

In other news on campus, it’s Homecoming Week at Delta State, and we invite everyone on campus, in the community, and out of town visitors to the Homecoming Parade set for 10 a.m. on Saturday. The parade route will begin at the H.L. Nowell Student Union on campus, makes its way to Fifth Avenue, to Court Street, then to Sharpe Street and West Sunflower Road, before ending at the Walter Sillers Coliseum. And, be sure to join us that evening for the game. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. against the University of West Florida.
