Joining President LaForge is Dr. Jivko Draganov, who serves as the Director of the Regional Center for Distance Learning and the Dean of the law faculty at the University for National and World Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The University for National and World Economy is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and President LaForge was honored to join them for the program marking that occasion. President LaForge served as a visiting professor of law here in 2006, and this year, he participated in a round table discussion on the challenges of legal education from my perspective as someone who has taught law to students at American universities and three European universities.
One of the goals President LaForge set when he became President at Delta State was to build its international partnerships and exchange opportunities for Delta State students. Already, Delta State has growing exchange programs with universities in Poland and Russia, and part of his trip to Bulgaria has included conversations about establishing a similar program here.
In other news on campus, Delta State will host the 81st annual Delta Council meeting on Friday. The keynote speaker will be U.S. Senator Jerry Moran from Kansas, and the meeting will be followed by the annual catfish lunch on the Quad. The Delta Council plays an important role in our region, and the university is pleased to be their host. For information on other news, events and activities, visit our web site at www.deltastate.edu.
