Joining President LaForge are students who attended the Delta State University Legislative Day at the Mississippi State Capitol.
Each year, students from Delta State’s Student Government Association’s Governmental Affairs Committee host a luncheon at the State Capitol with members of the Mississippi State Legislature. The SGA Governmental Affairs Committee is responsible for informing the student body of state legislative proceedings that may impact the university, particularly our students.
DSU Legislative Day, held at the Mississippi Capitol building in Jackson, has become an exciting tradition for Delta State students, and the luncheon has grown in recent years from including about a dozen Delta State students in 2012 to more than 50 students in attendance this year. The university is proud of the way that these students represent the university and showcase the quality education and skills they are learning at Delta State.
In other news on campus, Delta State is gearing up for a busy few weeks as we host the third Delta State University Colloquia Distinguished Lecture of this academic year with U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, who will be on campus March 22 at 6 p.m. to share his thoughts and experiences with students, faculty and staff. Within the next two weeks, we are also hosting the 11th annual International Business Symposium, the Winning the Race conference, a symposium on the Beatles co-sponsored with GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi, and Go Green Weekend. Information on all of these events and many others can be found on our website at www.deltastate.edu.
