Fireside Chat

Joining President William N. LaForge for this week’s edition of Fireside Chat is Jeremiah Berry, a student at Delta State and a leader in the Union Program Council.

The fall semester is hitting full speed, and Delta State is excited to offer a week of special activities welcoming students back to campus and offering ways for them to be involved with student organizations and groups.

Welcome Week activities begin tonight at 9 p.m. with the always popular Foam Party at the BPAC Loading Dock. Events will continue throughout the week wrapping up with a Welcome Week Pre-Game Cookout on Thursday at Statesmen Park. All of the week’s events are sponsored by Omicron Delta Kappa, the Union Program Council and the Student Government Association.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the first of our annual Colloquia Distinguished Speakers Lecture Series. Our guest is Joe Turner, an entrepreneur and one of the largest Wendy’s franchise owners, who has a lot of great information to share with students and faculty. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Jobe Hall Auditorium. More information on the event is located on the Delta State web site.

Also this week, the annual back-to-school blood drive with Mississippi Blood Services kicks off tomorrow in front of the Student Union. The MBS Donor Coach will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Wednesday, and we encourage all students and faculty to participate. For more information, call MBS at 1-888-90-BLOOD.

Please be sure to keep in touch with the numerous events and activities taking place on campus by visiting our website www.deltastate.edu. Thank you for joining me today. I will see you next time for another edition of Fireside Chat.
