President LaForge hosts Foundation Board President Tim Harvey on this edition of fireside chat. They speak about the DSU Foundation and its important role and partnership with the university.
“The Foundation, which fosters private financial support for Delta State, is an integral part of the university’s growth and excellence, and assists with funding for a diverse range of on-campus initiatives, from scholarships and residence halls to academics and athletics,” said LaForge.
The president introduces Harvey as a Laurel, Mississippi native who now resides in Memphis and retired as the Chief Information Officer for the Hilton Hotels Corporation.
“Tim was the starting left fielder for the Statesmen baseball team while he earned his degree from the College of Business. Since graduation, Tim has remained involved with Delta State throughout his career. A scholarship and internship opportunity was started through his efforts in the hotel industry, and he has contributed more than half a million dollars in financial support to Delta State,” said LaForge.
Harvey was recently presented the Lawrence L. Stewart Athletic Service Award during the Athletic Awards Banquet because of his longtime and significant support of the athletics program.
Harvey shares how Delta State has influenced his career path before LaForge makes a special announcement that the baseball will be named in Harvey’s honor.
As a long-time Delta State advocate, Harvey discusses his goals for the Foundation as incoming president of the Board.
“The more support we have from alumni, friends, and contributors to the Foundation, the bigger the difference we can make in the lives of our students. Thank you for joining me today, and I will see you next week for another edition of fireside chat,” said LaForge.
