President LaForge chats with Jeffrey Farris, director of Alumni Affairs and Chris Gaines, director of recruiting, to discuss the 29th annual Pig Pickin festivities, along with DSU Day happening during the weekend.
The Delta State University Alumni Association is gearing up for the Pig Pickin’ Sept. 26-27 at Statesmen Park. Pig Pickin’ has grown into one of Delta State’s largest and most popular weekend events.
Students, alumni, friends and family will gather for this fun filled weekend to enjoy the barbeque cooking competition, live entertainment and to cheer on the Statesmen Football team as they play Central State University at 6 p.m.
Jeffrey Farris discusses the exciting schedule how others can get involved. Each year the event has grown and new activities have been added. Farris explains why this is such an important event for alumni.
In conjunction with Pig Pickin’, the Admissions Office will host DSU Day on Sept. 27. Prospective students will have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff, current students and alumni.
LaForge thanks Gaines and the Admissions Office for their efforts to increase enrollment this year for the first time in eight years. Incoming freshmen and transfer students were a big part of these numbers.
Gaines discusses the increases and explains why DSU Day is an important opportunity for potential students. He talks about where to sign up for the affair and other events.
LaForge reminds everyone to visit campus for the Distinguished Speakers Lecture Series kicks Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. in Jobe Hall with Charles Bowsher, former Comptroller General of the United States.
