Happy New Year

President LaForge can’t wait for 2019 to begin here at Delta State—because the new year promises to be an exciting one on campus. Here are just some of the many highlights that will take place in the spring semester.

Our 6th annual Winning the Race conference is scheduled for March 25 and 26. The theme for this year’s conference is “Millennials in Motion: Channeling the Winner Within.”

The Bologna Performing Arts Center’s wide-ranging lineup includes the iconic rock band The Beach Boys on Jan. 24; Kinky Boots the musical on Feb. 5; The Wizard of Oz, another musical, on Feb. 26; Ronald K. Brown’s Evidence dance troupe on March 21; and country singer Trace Adkins on April 4.

Delta State’s Office of Admissions will host several events for prospective first-year and transfer students.

  • The third annual Statesmen Scholarship Day occurs in January. Students are selected to attend based on ACT scores, high school GPA, academic leadership, and service demonstration.
  • To introduce prospective students to DSU, each college and/or school will be showcased during an Academic Day. Admitted students will be invited to take part in an academic preview of their specified department, speak with professors, meet future classmates, participate in hands-on activities, and eat lunch on campus.
  • The 6th annual “Go Green Weekend and Spring Preview Day” is scheduled for April. Participants tour campus, preview academic programs, engage with current students, attend sporting events, and more.

If you are a prospective student or parent of one, just call. We will set up a tailor-made tour for you.

We invite you to join us on campus for all of our spring events, and we look forward to another great semester for the Green and White Nation!

In other news on campus, campus offices will open on Wednesday, Jan. 2 and classes for the spring semester will begin Monday, Jan. 7.

Merry Christmas

Joining President LaForge are members of his Cabinet.

It’s been a tremendous year at Delta State University, as we have continued to work on campus construction projects, implemented initiatives like the capstone requirement to enhance our students’ education and received numerous gifts from generous donors, including over $17,000 during this year’s Delta State giving days on Nov. 27.

As we move forward into the new year, we are thankful for everyone in the Delta State family. We are thankful for our students, our faculty and our staff, and for everyone who is part the Green and White Nation.

We wish the Delta State family a happy holiday season and a sincere thanks to each of you for your loyalty, support and goodwill throughout the year.
