Delta State’s Music Department is hosting an event tonight at 7 p.m. that marks a very special opening to the holiday season as choirs from across campus and the community will join together to present Handel’s “Messiah” in the Bologna Performing Arts Center. Choirs participating include The Delta Chorale, Delta Singers Okramen, Delta Singers Women’s Chorale, and the community choir called the Delta Choral Union.
Making the event even more exciting is the inclusion of a full roster of professional string players from the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, as well as members of the Delta State Music Department faculty who will accompany the performance. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for DSU faculty and staff, and $5 for students and senior citizens.
In other news on campus, we are entering the final few weeks of the fall semester, and students will begin finals next week. To help students get through the stress of the end-of-semester crunch time, several campus departments are coming together this week to offer students some fun activities. On Wednesday through Friday, the DSU De-Stress Fest will provide students with games, food and other stress relievers from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day in the H.L. Nowell Student Union First Floor Lobby. We encourage students to stop by, take a break from studying and enjoy spending time with one another.
